Bleaching is a proven, effective method of whitening the teeth and removing most stains from the surface of the tooth enamel. It is used in the case of a naturally darker (yellow) colour of the teeth as well as any other, acquired forms of discolouration resulting from smoking, drinking beverages such as coffee, wine, tea, etc. A gel preparation brightens the teeth and eliminates most discolourations without damaging the surface of the enamel, which remains intact. Increased sensitivity of the surface enamel necessitates the application of a special fluoride gel which neutralizes the unpleasant symptoms of the irritability. There are a number of various methods of bleaching. One of them, normally performed by the dentist in the office, enables an instant whitening within an hour. Another requires the patients to use a mouthpiece moulded for their teeth to apply the bleaching agent at home. Our clinic offers both of these methods, though the final decision is made after a thorough examination and the patient. |
